Tupolev Tu-144 Fan Merchandise
It's the year 1968, the 31st of December to be exact. On this day, the Soviet Union's first supersonic passenger jet, the Tupolev Tu-144, took off. Fifty years later, one of the jets from the production halls at OKB Tupolev has now landed on the roof of Technik Museum Sinsheim: the Tupolev Tu-144 with the identification number "CCCP-77112".
The French-British counterpart, the Concorde, followed about two months later. Both initiated the supersonic era in aviation. To this day, supersonic jets are considered the fastest means of transport in the world.
